ABOUT AARON FIEGER
About Me.
I am a recently graduate mechanical engineering student at the University of Delaware (UD) located in Newark Delaware. I graduated from UD in May 2023 with my bachelors degree in mechanical engineering and graduated with my masters degree in mechanical engineering in May 2024.
I love to learn about scientific topics that are new to me, whether they can be categorized as engineering or not. I particularly enjoy working on team projects that involve bringing a prototype from the conceptual stage up to a market ready product. My specific interests are in manufacturing, aerospace, composites, and robotics. I enjoy opportunities that allow me to develop technical solutions for complex problems and collaborate with team members and consumers directly.

In the summer of 2023 I had an enriching experience working at SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, CA on the supply chain engineering team. At SpaceX, I gained lots of hand on experience in composites manufacturing as well as manufacturing for products in general. Additionally, I learned more about the importance of designing for manufacturability (DFM) and how a supply chain works on a daily and long term basis.

During my undergrad career, I studied the impact physics of composite materials under Dr. Bazle G. Haque at the Center for Composite Materials at UD and have gained experience with FEA, X-Ray Computer Tomography, and SolidWorks Fixture design through my experience there. For my senior design project in the Fall of 2023, I worked with DowAksa to reverse engineer drone propellers out of forged carbon fiber. Some of the work from that project can be viewed here.

Additionally, my recent scientific interests involve programming, specifically in learning html, CSS and JavaScript using the code academy platform, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. I have some experience in these topics but am actively trying to learn more about them to gain understanding and experience. I also enjoy opportunities where I can apply graphical design concepts to technical work. Outside of engineering related concepts I am passionate about exercise and weightlifting and ran a half marathon in March 2024. Additionally, I am an avid Philadelphia sports fan, mainly watching the Sixers and Eagles.

Education
2023 - 2024
Master's, Mechanical Engineering
University of Delaware
I earned an MSME at UD in a 4+1 program. Some of the key classes I took included Introduction to Robotics, Intermediate Heat Transfer, Advanced Ordinary Differential Class, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, and Aerodynamics.
2019-2023
Bachelor's, Mechanical Engineering
University of Delaware
I gained knowledge of engineering theory as well as hands on experience for designing and prototyping during my undergraduate curriculum at UD. Some of the projects I was proud of was designing a wooden bike frame, an autonomous pill filling machine, and making drone propellers out of forged carbon fiber.
